Freedom and Religion

From Miss Dynamite:

“Freedom of religion does not mean freedom from religion”
Debbie Schlussel, coming from a Jew, someone who should understand religious persecution, that just makes you extra retarded. YOU FAT DUMB BLOND JABBA THE FUCK, WHY DON’T YOU EAT ANOTHER PIE? MAYBE IT’LL STOP YOU FROM SAYING STUPID SHIT LIKE THIS!And that black woman who says “Atheists need to shut up”. Do black people need to shut up? Maybe you should bake some pancakes for Debbie, Aunt Jemima, instead of fucking complaining, right?

What did Ms. Schlussel, a fat Jew as Sirkowski helpfully points out, mean by freedom from religion? What does Sirkowski mean by freedom from religion?

Before we proceed, it should be noted that Sirkowski is Canadian, and that Canada, in its founding documents, notes: “Whereas Canada is founded upon the principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law” and,

Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

(a) freedom of conscience and religion

(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other means of communication.

(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and

(d) freedom of association.

As an Atheist, does Sirkowski feel unfairly discriminated against because his country was founded on the recognition of the supremacy of God??

The fundamental freedoms, of course, mean that religious people have the same freedoms as the non-religious or members of minority religions (pastafarians too). As the majority of people are religious in Canada, is it necessary that a minority have a veto regarding the behavior of the majority? Is the outward religious practice of the majority of Canadian citizens an unnecessary and onerous burden on the non-religious minority?

In what sense could it be understood that religious activity unfairly burdens the non-religious (or those who practice a different religion)?

In terms of government and religion, where is the line between the government doing something I disagree with and government injuring my rights? I don’t particularly like it when government entities give tax breaks or other handouts to owners of sports teams. I think that it lacks prudence and is wasteful. Everything else equal, I would vote against a politician who advocated such schemes. However, I don’t think that government has no right to engage in such behavior, I don’t think that giving a handout to the owner of a sports franchise injures my rights.

I don’t know if Sirkowski’s racial slur against Ms. Hunter was absolutely necessary. I’m sure, if asked, that he would say that because he’s a liberal, and not actually intolerant, when he says intolerant things it is only to illustrate someone else’s intolerance. In my opinion, that is an odd kind of tortured logic.

Sirkowski’s Hatred is Confronted

I like your artwork. Therefore, blindly, I assumed you were a pretty cool person. That was until I visited your website.Sadly, most of your posts revolve around hatred, particularly against Christians. Your view of the world is that all religious people are bigots and “fucktards”. You claim that the most ignorant, dumbass nations in the world are also the most religious, and yet….I don’t see too many religious people relying on words like “fucktard” to convey their opinion (but I’m sure through your own eyes they always seem to convey their opinions in the most red-necked, uninformed way imaginable).

What I ask you is this: what breeds people like you? Are you a product of years of Christians pissing on your parade, or are you just naturally hateful? If you don’t mind me asking, really….what is the deal with you? You claim to be liberal, but the ways in which you express your disagreement with religion are so far out there that even the most liberal politicians would shake their head in shame upon viewing this website. I’m not going to preach at you that your comics are tasteless, or your hentai is sickening. Hell no. I view all that shit, and I like it. I’m just preaching at you that you *could* express yourself far more maturely, that you *could* not be as hateful, bigoted, and ignorant as most of the religious people you put down, but I don’t expect that you will.

What is your deal with Christians, or even conservatives in general? You seem to think we’re all stereotypes. Well, I guess I better go handle my snake again, then. And pray to Jebus for your soul sake. But not before telling you you’re going to hell but that God loves you! :P

“You’re going to hell but God loves you!”

There. I’d hate to shatter your beloved stereotypes that you cling to so desperately as being an everlasting of humor from which you can draw inspired posts and comic strips from.

If you’re not a bigot, you shouldn’t feel concerned. If you do feel concerned, that’s your problem. And yes, I’m not cool. Glad you finaly found that out. e_e

Purpose and Method

Friday, 26 January, 2007

This blog will track the writing and thought of one Sébastien Fréchette, a.k.a. Sirkowski. My main goal is to determine whether or not Sirkowski has a coherent ideology, of if most his comments and musing about politics and the world spring simply from unthinking partisan adherence based on affect.

Every post at Sirkowski Watch will begin with a link to a post Sirkowski has published somewhere else (usually Liberal Avenger) and will then include my appraisal of Sirkowski’s thought on a number of grounds, including logical coherence, ideological stability, affect, and grasp of widely available facts.
